Rock Steady With No Doubt

The pop singer and mogul, Gwen Stefani, has decided to close the door of her solo career for good and open the door back up for her band, No Doubt. While the band was on hiatus, Stefani released two very successful studio albums, ‘Love Angel Music Baby’ and ‘The Sweet Escape’. No Doubt took a long break after their last studio album, ‘Rock Steady’. The band got back in the studio in 2008, but they seemed to get road blocked every time; Stefani got pregnant with her second child and couldn’t write as many songs as she would’ve liked to, and the band had to deal with a lawsuit they filed against Band Hero. No Doubt didn’t like how they were depicted in the video game.

Before I jump the gun here, those who don’t know who No Doubt is, they are a rock band from Anaheim, CA that formed in 1986. Their first album was a flop, however their second album, ‘Tragic Kingdom’, which is now diamond-certified, helped launch their stardom. Their last album, ‘Rock Steady’, was mostly recorded in the beautiful island of Jamaica. Because of the place the album was recorded, it had strong Jamaican music influences, such as dancehall and reggae. The band also managed to collaborate with some Jamaican artists while recording for this album, including Bounty Killer, Sly and Robbie, and Lady Saw. This album won to win two Grammys, which is every band’s dream. They won Best Pop Performance by a Duo or Group with Vocal for ‘Hey Baby’ in 2003 and the same award for ‘Underneath It All’ in 2004.

No Doubt was supposed to create a follow up for ‘Rock Steady’ by Christmas 2011, but that obviously didn’t work out well for them. But in a statement on their official website nodoubt.com, they said: "Ideally our new record would be coming out this year but it's just not ready yet. We don't want to rush this album just to get it out. This collection of songs means everything to us, and our only priority right now is to make sure that it's the best album we can possibly make. There is still more work for us to do”.

They added: "We love our fans and are doing this for your ears and want you to know how much we appreciate your patience and support”. Tracks slated to appear on the as-yet-untitled album include 'Undercover', 'Settle Down', 'Easy', 'Heaven' and 'Dreaming The Same Dream'.
