My freshman year at the University of Bridgeport my dorm residence was Seeley Hall. Out of the two residences I've been living in for the past two years, Seeley has been my favorite. Seeley tends to be plenty people's favorite because of the beautify view it has, the wooden beds, the bigger rooms, and the bigger closet space.
Seeley Hall is located near Marina Dining Hall and has a fantastic view of the Long Island Sound and Seaside Park. Seeley Hall is a traditional undergraduate co-ed style residence hall that houses approximately 200 students. The main floor of Seeley Hall includes a game room, laundry room, community kitchen, and television lounge. In addition each floor offers a community lounge and a study area available for resident use.
Seeley Hall’s staff consists of 6 Resident Assistants (RA) who are supervised by a Resident Director (RD). The staff’s goal is to integrate both an academic and residential approach to the hall community as well as assist the residents in their educational, social, cultural and personal growth. The staff is to be used as a resource in a collaborative approach with residents to assist with the challenges of their new surroundings as well as to create a positive and academically centered community atmosphere. Residents of Seeley Hall are expected to contribute and respect others in the hall community.
I found out the history of Seeley. The second generation grandfather was Henry J. Seeley, Supt. of the Fitch Old Soldier's Home in Darien Ct. One of his sons, Wilber Nash Seeley, ran Seeley's Photography Studio in Bridgeport, CT. His daughter, Nellie Elizabeth Seeley, married Allen F. Trickey, Sr. I'm Jr. Mom and Dad met when Dad chauferred for Henry J. Seeley. The Seeley's were pretty active in Bridgeport, CT with their business, so no wonder they had a dorm named after them.
