Over the years, music has had many trends. When I say trends I mean the genre of music that has became more mainstream. The other day I was having a conversation with my best friend about music. Actually, she's the same best friend that I interviewed in my previous post.
Techno music is a genre of music that is comparatively less popular among the masses. It has a specific set of fans and followers and the ones who listen to it, swear by it. For the benefit of those who are new to the concept of techno music, let me explain it to you in simple words. Techno music is a type of music that is entirely produced using technology, computers and a few electronic musical instruments such as sequencers, synthesizers, rhythm machines, samplers, etc. The music is entirely machine-produced and typically, has a sci-fi or a futuristic touch and feel to it. This type of music is mostly dance oriented and is predominantly played at nightclubs, lounges and at rave parties.
Most people would agree that techno music is still underground music even today in 2012. But regardless of this phenomenon it seems that more and more techno vibes can be found in pop music. This has happened because singers have started to become more aware that they need to capture more market segments if they don’t want to lose their fans.
The music industry has started to change as more and more singers are trying to find out new was of attract fans to buy their music. Berlin techno lovers are surely not appreciative about what is happening but nevertheless, people should try to appreciate the fact that all change is good change and it means evolution. In the light of these things we could easily say that today’s artists are interested in changing their music style more than anything and introducing new vibes in their songs. And it seems that all this hard work has actually paid off as fans are more than impresses with the new songs.
Some songs actually have more success than others and have become hits ever since they were launched, such as Katy Perry's "E.T", Britney Spears' "Till The World Ends", Lady Gaga's "Judas", Taio Cruz feat. Travie McCoy's "Higher". Of course, they are still pop songs but the techno vibes are there and everyone can hear them and appreciate them. Surely techno music lovers are surely not going to appreciate any of these tracks, however one thing is for sure, techno is starting to become mainstream.
The one to blame for all of this seems to be Lady Gaga. With her outrageous shows and outfits and very explicit lyrics it seems that she has started a new trend and she is making up the rules as she goes. Who is not following her footsteps these days is simply forgotten by the fans. It seems that Lady Gaga is actually an inspiration for many of her industry colleague as she had been doing a lot of duets lately for instance.
Techno and pop might be fusing in some aspects however, we can safely say that none of the fans will change sides any time soon. Music is the form of art that should pull people together and not tear them apart. There are a great number of placed where all music lovers can listen to the type of music that they enjoy. There will always be various combination among trends, and this can be clearly noticed more in the main stream music rather than in niche music types. Regardless of the music type you choose to listen to you should be open and learn something about all music genres.
