Lessons For Musicians

Throughout my life I have done plenty charitable things. When I volunteer it's the best feeling ever - knowing that I'm helping out others and also having fun at the same time. Recently, I found out about a program at the YMCA in Syracuse where they give lessons on how to play an instrument. The lessons include piano, drums, guitar, violin, and voice. They do not discriminate against age. So you want to learn how to play any of the instruments up above then the Y is waiting for you.

All lessons are taught by professional instructors with prior teaching experience; most of our teachers mostly perform locally and regionally, either as solo artists or members of ensembles. And the price is right, whether you are a beginner or experienced student.

All students must own or rent an instrument. Piano students are required to have use of an
acoustic piano or a decent digital piano with at least 76 keys. Parents are welcome to attend lessons as long they do not interfere with the teacher’s instruction. During the first lesson, the instructor will make a list of books or other materials that the student must purchase and bring along each time for his/her lesson. All music lessons are private and held only at YMCA Facilities. Home lessons are not available.

To Register: You will need to fill out a Registration Form and bring it to the front desk of the
YMCA, in an envelope marked “Music Lesson Coordinator.” You will then be contacted by the
coordinator for arrangements.

The payment procedure: The YMCA accepts only credit or debit cards for music lesson payments. We will bill you every two months, after you have received your lessons. The cancellation procedure: If you have to cancel a lesson or a number of lessons, you must call the instructor at least 24 hours prior to the lesson time to avoid being charged. You will never be charged for lessons canceled by the YMCA or the instructor.

For further information, please contact the Music Lesson Coordinator for the Arts Branch of the YMCA,
George Skafidas, at (315) 474-6851 ext: 398, or email: gskafidas@syracuseymca.org.
